Amcare Women’s & Children’s Hospital (Beijing)
Amcare Women’s and Children’s Hospital is located literally just around the corner from Beijing United. It’s a good mix of Western and Chinese care. Though all of their doctors are Chinese, some have had training or experience in the US. Translators (English and Korean—perhaps other languages too?) are provided upon request. C-sections are more popular than natural birth, but women that present a birth plan are supported in meeting their natural birth goals. Any foreign woman wishing to deliver there should be comfortable with Chinese culture (Western care with a Chinese flair!), and may be more at ease if they have basic Chinese language skills. Amcare is a very well run hospital that is about one third the cost of Beijing United with facilities and care that rival it. The accounting department was very easy to work with, and all expenses were completely straightforward—no surprise charges! . A Western menu is available with Annie's and other Western restaurants nearby.
