This is a private clinic run by Korean nurses and doctors. Located in Ming Ren Square, the building itself is cold and unwelcoming, but the clinic is very clean and small. The workers are very friendly. During checkups the doctors and nurses respect privacy and try and make the patient feel as comfortable as possible. Although the OB/GYN nurse doesn’t speak any English, the doctor speaks it fairly well and is very careful to think before he speaks. He performs all the exams (ultrasounds and pelvic exams) and is very thorough. The clinic doesn’t deliver babies, so only prenatal care is offered. The doctor recommends delivery at Long Tian Hospital, Municipal Hospital, Marie Hospital or Woman & Infant’s Hospital. They also provided pediatric care with imported immunizations from Korea. It is a slightly more expensive than Chinese hospitals, but far cheaper than Western hospitals & clinics.

Although they don’t deliver at their location, they act as a language liaison in checkups and delivering at a partnering hospital. The hospital most used for prenatal and delivery babies by Bellaire has been Woman & Infants Hospital. Bellaire has a working relationship with that hospital and it offer the the most acceptable synchronization of Western and Beijing standards.

While Bellaire’s facilities do include a basic sonogram machine, blood testing center, and exam room, most of appointments take place at the planned delivery hospital for use of the higher tech equipment. Bellaire provides transportation from your doorstep to and from checkups at the partnering hospital and for the delivery. They also provide a nurse-trained translator that will accompany the patient to every appointment and through the entire delivery process.

As doctor visits at a Chinese hospitals are quite different for Westerners, Bellaire’s service is wonderful in navigating payment and logistics at the hospital (see Doctor Visits). The nurse-trained translators’ English is adequate, but expect to have some miscommunication at times. It is often necessary to ask many questions in many different ways in order to get clear answers and direction; but they do strive for excellent service and are an incredible help for those who’s Chinese is not strong enough to feel comfortable navigating a Chinese hospital on their own. The clinic can be relatively high-priced, but for those with insurance, they offer direct billing. Bellaire will pay the partnering hospital for your delivery, checkups, blood test charges, etc., and then you pay directly to Bellaire these fees in addition to Bellaire’s fees.
