Beijing New Century Aodong Clinic, which was American-Sino OB/GYN Beijing Hospital, is a comfortable smaller-scale hospital focusing specifically on women and children’s care. Their facilities are modern and clean. The doctors and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Some doctors speak English. Usually, though, they are accompanied by an English-speaking nurse.
American-Sino is located inside of the Tibetan Hospital. While it is in a quieter section of town, it can be a bit difficult to find the first time. It is a 7-minute walk to the nearest subway stop on lines 5 & 10, “Huixinxijie Nankou” (惠新西街南口).
About a 5-minute walk from the hospital is a KFC and Pizza Hut as well as some nice fast food Chinese chain-restaurants.

Please introduce us a Pediatric Neurologist (for my 4 months baby boy who constantly have sleeping problem)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
Our 4 months old baby boy constantly have sleeping problem. The average daily sleeping hours is between 4 to 7 hrs. We will move to Beijing from Canada soon . We heard that your hospital has the best professors in this field, would you please advise who should see at your hospital and how long in advance shall we make an appointment?
Greatly appreciate for your help
Ann
Hi! Thanks for your reply! They told me they do not include any kind of post natal care. The package includes only the first examination (height, weight and health conditions). If you go for blood tests and check up, you will be charged separately. Never mentioned about vaccinations and vitamin K injection and I’m still waiting for them to reply. I know usually hospitals charge you more if you go for direct billing, but I have checked out other possibilities in town and it seems to me that at Am-Sino they just want to take advantage of this (eg. Amcare charges you A BIT more and only for delivery package, pre natal care price is almost the same). I’m considering to go to Amcare or Mary’s (they can’t speak English and the environment is not so good looking, but I have had a very good feeling) and I believe I’ll quit the idea to go back to Am-Sino.
Alessia,
Jacquelyn and I think that’s a good decision. It is sad that they would take advantage of insurance like this. Kinda ruins the whole system, doesn’t it? A couple of our friends have had babies at AmCare. We’ve heard great things about it.
As you report, their level is English isn’t as high, but they are very willing to work with you needs.
Jeremy
I had my second child at American Sino and I did have some postnatal care. I’m not sure what they told you the do or don’t do, what are you looking for? We went back for blood work and a check up.
I’m also not sure what to tell you about the direct billing. Are you talking about direct billing to your insurance company? In Qingdao we ran into hospitals clinics charging more if you have insurance than if you pay yourself.
9wk pregnannt, I’ve been to American Sino last week for the 1st ultrasound. I was quite happy (I liked the hospital, nurses and doctor) but in the end they told that the total price will be much higher if we go for direct billing (on the phone and by email they just confirmed the cheaper pricer though). They told me this after the visit and after booking the 2nd appointment. Then I’ve also found out that they do not do post-natal care. I do like the environment and I’ll have a second try… but I am afraid I will quit the idea of having my baby there. Any advise?
I have two baby in china. My son was born at Amcare in 2008. Their maternity unit is like a luxury hotel but the birthing experience wasn’t pleasant for me, and I would never refer any friends of mine to be there.
I found I got pregnant with my baby girl last June.My Germany friend who also birth her two baby there refer me to American-Sino hospital. Thanks god,I did enjoy every visit there,my doctor Amber Chen and Daphne Sue were always pleasant and patient to reply all my questions.I do believe that i can not have my girl naturally and successfully without their help.
I can’t say it was the best looking hospital but the nurses were amazing and so kind & compassionate for what I went thru. I will never forget the care and kindness I received there.
I tried doing my prenatal At the one in Beijing because i live very near to it, but i have been forced to find another place. I am now 12 weeks pregnant. One my first visit, i was 8 weeks. The doctor took my health history and my blood for a hormone test, and gave me one month worth of prenatal vitamins. That cost 1047yuan. The second visit at 10 weeks they simply did an ultrasound. 800rmb I was happy to have the ultrasound but i can’t believe that no pelvic exam was done, no blood test nothing . I spent about 2000rmb and i am yet to be know for sure whether there is any risk in my pregnancy. The doctor just told me i am having a normal pregnancy, but nothing proves that beside the ultrasound.I found it to be a complete waste of money. I felt like a cow being milked…
I also had my baby at American-Sino Shanghai and I would never recommend any mother to be to go there. They always offer extras and use avery chance to make you spend some more money. Doctors don’t know how to deal with complications during pregnancy so I’m far from being satisfied with their survices.
There is also an American-Sino Ob/Gyn in Shanghai where I delivered my baby last October. They have separate out-patient and in-patient facilties. The in-patient facility is in Huashan hospital and the out-patient is nearby. Most of their doctors speak English as do the nurses and receptionists. The level of care is excellent and similar to what I would expect to receive back in Canada.
