Testing a Water Purifier in China

by | 0 comments

One of our goals when we returned to China was to find a solution for our drinking water. After having lived with using water “tongs” for many years, we wanted something that was a bit more integrated into our home. We were also looking to take up less space in our kitchen and counter tops.

Through a contact we were able to get a filtration system installed in our home. But we found it very difficult in communicating with the company when we wanted to change the filters and doing any type of maintenance. I found that I drank the water, I had some doubt in my mind that it was actually safe to drink. So, we wanted something we could put our confidence in.

Just recently, we connected with a new contact selling water filtration systems out of Shanghai. This was a completely different experience for us. We were able to communicate completely in English with the service team and we got very clear instructions on how to use it and when to change the filters. Best of all, they do the full-service installation anywhere in China!

The system we went with for this installation was the ALATAI Drinking Water Purifier. This is a top level water purifier. It uses Reverse Osmosis to take out 99% of tiny impurities down to 0.0001um including viruses and heavy metals.  The cost for this particular unit was ¥6,680 It also has the following features:

  • PP Fiber – Removes big sized particles like sand, rust and other sediments
  • Tourmaline – Re-mineralizes water
  • Imported Activated Carbon x 2 – Removes chlorine, smells, bacteria and pesticides
  • Imported Activated Carbon – Adjusts the pH level of the water and improves the taste

According to the company,

This purifier filters out all the toxic chemicals in your water such as chlorine, pesticides, and heavy metals, and they do it to such an extent that the filtered water becomes purer than the bottled water you find in supermarkets. Additionally, you no longer have to consume bottled water with a guilty environmental conscience all the while actually saving up to 30% of the cost, too!
