I don't really want to sit around in the hospital for several days before giving birth. I'd like to wait until I'm in labor, having contractions (or if my water breaks) about 10 minutes apart and then go. The hospital is about 15 minutes away by taxi. My husband is worried that I wouldn't be able to make it down the stairs (we live on the 5th floor) and out to the hospital if I waited that long though. I'd rather be able to walk around, use hands and knees or squatting position and take warm showers while in labor for as long as possible.
Would the hospital be mad if you waited that long? Or do women usually wait until contractions are closer together? This is my first, btw, so I really have no idea what to expect.
