I did 3 prenatal checkups at this hospital with their 主任医生. This is a typical public hospital. You will wait in many many lines and even stay all day for some appointments due to the sheer volume of patients being seen. If you are not fluent in Chinese, navigating the hospital and what you need to do each appointment will be extremely difficult, if not impossible. When being seen by the doctor, up to a dozen other patients and their husbands will be crowded in the same room, listening to everything. If anything is abnormal during a physical checkup (done behind a curtain in the same room), the doctor will not hesitate to announce the details in front of everyone. I transferred to HKU-Shenzhen Hospital’s International department after a particularly horrible appointment that lasted all day.
