Amcare Tianjin will not take you in if your labor starts before 37 weeks of pregnancy, since they don’t have the capacity to care for premature babies. This was not communicated to couples (I had supported several couples there already) and we only found out when a couple went to the hospital with 36 weeks +5 days of pregnancy and labor started. They had to go to a different hospital.
This hospital is a very good alternative if money is an issue and TUFH is not possible, but you still want western standards in privacy, care and hygiene. One family member can stay with the birthing mom, but I have been able to be in the room as a second person (doula) every time we wanted (about 4 times). Translators are on call at night, so one time she arrived after the baby was born and it was helpful I was there.
